KATHARINE WHITE Pigment Prints

statement about pigment prints

From 2002 through 2004, using a hand-held Cannon Rebel 2000 camera and color film, I shot a series of photographs of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. In February, 2007, while temporarily living on Long Island, I decided to explore the possibility of creating large format, archival pigment prints from the original 35mm negatives.

Working initially with staff members at the digital photo lab at Amagansett Applied Arts in Amagansett, NY, and since May, with the staff of the Digital Imaging Center at the Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport, Maine, I have been developing and printing the seven images currently on my website. In the coming months, I plan to work on and print additional images from this series.
